King of the Nerds
What happens when you mix reality T.V. and a lot of home grown nerds desperate for attention/cash? King of the Nerds! Reality T.V. is good at one thing destroying cultures and bringing out the worst in people. Read this review by IGN When I first watched it I had a very mix feeling about whole thing because I knew TBS didn't care one bit about the culture they just wanted there cash and as long as they got it the show would stay on the air.
I for the longest time considered myself to be geeky but the realized this show had one major flaw. It did not explore the people who may be slightly geeky but also into other things. They come up with there own categories to put people in and as a viewer we are expected to just accept that. They are the typical comic nerd, the video gamer nerd, even the astrophysicist nerd. Why can't we talk about the normal nerd who enjoys fantasy football for instance? That's a simple answer that would not sell on television. The show has a strong following of people who think it sends a good awareness well others believe it spreads mix messages.
Another show that is really popular with exploring this "nerd" phenomenon is the Big Bang Theory. I personally enjoy this show because I love the wonderful scriptwriting and the humor present throughout. However, it does not send the right message. Read this bloggers opinion The problem behind the show is its blatant disregard for respect. Why should we label anyone even if its in a positive light. The truth is its not cool to be a nerd and it never was or will be. Thats what is so cool about being a nerd in the first place; not everyone does it. Lets respect everyone (even nerds) and stand up to exploitation.

Reality Television is Bad but Really Entertaining
Throughout our school career we have all been told how bad reality Television is for the generally viewing public but does anybody actual care? According to a study via Psychology Today that concerned 239 people we learn that people don't just watch because it is popular or that the reality television audience is just not as smart as the normal viewer. Those two facts are a myth most people that watch reality television are smart. In this study, they found that the people who watch reality television are most concerned about their statues or how they can get ahead in the world. Reality shows all carry one very common trait that they involve some type of competition. It is extremely exciting to most people because we see people battle over something as simple as who gets the top bunk.
Reality Television can be a good thing. In 2009, the teenage pregnancy rate in the United States dropped to its lowest levels in 70 years. The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy released a survey in 2010, in which 87 percent of teens who had watched MTV's "16 and Pregnant" felt the show educated them about becoming a parent at such a young age. Only 17 percent felt the show glamorized teen pregnancy. That is a far cry from the negative everyone thinks it represents. The average viewer would argue that "16 and Pregnant" encourages someone to go out and have a kid so they can be on television. How about diversity? Reality shows also reflect a more diverse nation. A 2008 report released by the NAACP said non-whites are underrepresented in almost every aspect of the television industry -- except for reality programming. It's not that reality shows are more racially or culturally sensitive. Frankly, mixing people of different races, genders, sexual orientation and cultures creates conflict, and conflict sells. Reality television in the end is all about making a lot of money. Mostly for the network but also the people inside a reality show can profit also. Honey Boo Boo Childs net worth is estimated to be around 300 thousand dollars and growing with every episode they receive 50,000 dollars now thats a lot of spaghetti.
Is Reality Television bad? Most certainly yes. However, it continues to make a lot of money from tons of different sources and as long as that continues it will be around and be as popular as ever. Lets look at the negatives of reality television but lets not forget the positives. Although they may be slim in number they around.

I like Disney and I don't care who knows
Here is a hard question? What is so wrong with Disney that everyone seems to destroy the image they are trying to present? They are a company and as a company their main job is to make money and lots of it. Should Disney really mind the princess image they are portraying. I would say that as a person who views businesses straight forward I want you to cut them some slack. If we look at this Disney Princess Report we learn that in most cases Disney is trying to do a lot to portray a good message. They just fall short some times.
There are some problems with the Disney Princess line and everybody knows that. This article Girls on Film shows a pure example of how Disney has taken some steps forward in terms of improving the line. An example of this is the movie Brave but it has also taken steps backwards like redesigning Mulan and Pocahontas. As a brand name company they will never be able to please everyone that is the facts. The parents and others who happen to claim that the princess line just needs to end because it creates unrealistic expectations for young girls do not realize the amount of money Disney makes off of this brand and would quite frankly be crazy if they took it off the market. If these parents want real action the only way they are going to accomplish that tremendous feet is by getting people to stop and think before they buy the product.
Disney's Redesign for the princess line is a 4 billion dollar industry so how do you fix the problem.
Step 1 Don't blame the Company
Step 2 Stop buying from the Disney Princess Line
Step 3 Convince friends to not buy into it
Step 4 Don't succumb to peer pressure and buy clearly wrong interpretations of Feminism
Step 5 It wont make any money
Step 6 Disney removes it
Don't believe me read this Disney Probs

How dumb do you sound when you use #hashtag
Yes, Everyone knows that a hastag is a great way organize your thoughts and ideas. However, a new cool fad is coming that if you don't realize it you may already be doing it. Some people are actually talking using hastags in real every day life. Which is why below I include a great video that I think includes a perfect example of how dumb we really sound when we decide to talk like we do on Twitter.
The question has become what is social media doing to the overall flow of everyday life. It turns out quite a bit as stated in this story by the Daily News in New York. It turns out a lot of fights on Facebook actually turn into real fights in real life. That means just like the language of Facebook soon becoming apart of everyday life so has the things we say. People really do care what you think about them and they don't like being insulted. Is that the only thing that is translated into real life from social media? Of course not. Whether your a hipster, goth, emo, nerd, or just plain strange we all will at one time replicate something we have seen on social media. The problem is its just there its present and everyone who is everyone is on social media. That fads will be taken off of Facebook and Twitter and Myspace and...... liked we learned in the article about cool right off the street. That means if companies are willing to pay people to find cool people then they are willing to start fads off the internet just as easily.
Just remember it may be the next cool thing to say #swag after everything you say. You may claim you have never used a hastag in real life but I would argue that you are lying.

Twitter Or Facebook Or Neither
Lets for the sake of controversy say that the age of social media is falling not rising. Wait did I actually just utter those words inside the same sentence? Well in this article from The Guardian we learn that Twitter may not be as hip as everyone seems to say it is. What could bring down an empire like Twitter? Well lets say that really the only thing that can bring down social media is social media itself.
There are actually a lot of problems with free speech in America today. There are checks and balances and that fact that we can't step on anyone's toes or we have to answer to the media. What happens when all of the weirdo's realize there is a way to let there free speech be herd by millions and flock together to hear the same ideals that seem to tear at the fabric of society. Just as this article states it seems that through social media it may be a great tool for organizing all of our thoughts and ideas together but it can also be a tool for injustice allowing for racism, sexism, and gender inequality all in one place available for any one and everyone who wants to see it. Trolling is a problem one that won't be fixed overnight or frankly ever. It allows for this acts to be committed in a way that seems wrong.
Unfortunately, What happens when the business professionals, celebrities, and interesting normal people decide that they have had enough with doldrums of never ending blatant unprofessional remarks from America? They leave and no longer become active in Twitter. What does that mean? Twitter loses its appeal causing the fabric of Social Media to go up into smoke. Just like how Facebook just isn't quite Facebook with all the politics and things no one seems to care about anymore. It will soon be time for Twitter to follow in the mold whether it adapts and changes will however remain to be unseen.
