Technology Addictions Making Us Socially Retarded

Everywhere you turn you see somebody on some form of technology. Everyday on my way to class I almost get ran over by people who can't even walk to class without taking their eyes off of their cell phones. Everywhere you go you see people with their eyes glued to the screens of their phones and their fingers scrolling up and down. What is this cell phone addiction really doing to us ? It's making us unable to communicate in person . New technology is making it to where people can communicate in various ways like texting, sending pics/ videos, skyping, facetime and many others. Some think these things are beneficial because it can help keep you in contact with people you may not be able to see otherwise. I personally think it's ruining our society. Have you ever noticed is you put a room full of strangers in the same room it is absolutely silent and everyone immediately pretends to be doing something on their phone. Now imagine if you put people in a room together with no technology. They'd look pretty strange just staring into space , so they would start interacting with people like they use to before cell phones. I think the emergence of technology is scary because as we get more technology , we're going to lose more interpersonal communication. Eventually it's going to get to the point where people never talk in person and that's going to be a very lonely world. You can't really get to know a person through the screen of a cell phone like you can talking to that person in person. Technology is taking away human value and emotion and more or less turning each and every one of us into nothing more than another form of technology . Let that sink in. Pretty scary right?
