The View of Politics and Sports
As a normal american kid i, like so many others, spent many hours in front of the T.v watching the greatest invention known to man...SPORTS!!! Sports are the epicenter of many peoples lives, including myself. Weather it be on the gridiron, a diamond, or a court, the magic that comes from playing and watching these sports is truly amazing and should be experienced by everyone. Sports teach individuals many things including teamwork, determination, and above all, discipline. Characteristics that are important for every individual to have in life.
Sports have impacted life in many ways but in the professional spectrum we are blind to see whats really going on between superstars and politics. The film we have been watching talked a lot about this, it had mentioned that even as late as the 68 Olympics (back when war and racism were at their peak) Back then standing up for yourself and your beliefs didn't have a price tag and came at a costly price. It seemed that there was a lot more on the line rather than money and fame. We fast forward to the Barcelona Olympics where the single greatest basketball team of all time comes from the locker room and Jordan is sporting an american flag..Like a true american...or is he?? we come to find out that he just used the flag to cover up a reebok emblem so his nike sponsor would not get upset.
In the end we see the evolution of what an athlete stands for, weather it be to protect his or her race and expressing the distaste and negativity of war while sacrificing potential life. Or not doing anything just so your image inst tarnished. I believe we need to look back at history and how some athletes made a mark in the world and revolve around their beliefs.

Evolution of Gay
These last few weeks in class we have been discussing a lot of t.v. centered subjects. Subjects concerning Honey BooBoo and the Real Houswives (which make me sick to my stomach to even say) but what really grabbed my attention is a subject that is always brought up, Gay!!!! no matter where you look there seems to be some controversy about the orientation of ones sexuality. From the big screen, to sports, to politics, the word gay seems to always pop up. As a person who is all for gay rights it amazes me that a persons view on another person can be drastically changed just by their sexual preference. Ive always been taught that every person should be created equal and hate will never get you anywhere. But with all this talk of gay....where did it even come from, we are so tied to the fact of what it means now we forget it meant a whole different thing years ago. Back in the day they used gay as an expression of happiness, hell even the Flintstones theme song said the word gay, but in the happy since. Fast forward to the present and people throw gay into there vocabulary like its an everyday adjective.... oooo this is gay.....oooo thats gay. since when is everything gay!?!? sometimes you just have to look at society and think when did hell break loose? As for the word gay..who knows where it'll end up in a couple years, in my opinion i believe that there has been such concentration on the present form of gay that the definition might not ever change. One thing is for sure,as much i hate to admit it, gay will always be viewed by some as negative.

Obese police
Food was a major topic we talked about a couple weeks ago so i thought id write a little bit about it seeing it sparked my interest. The topic that i would like to discuss is obesity, ahhh yes the big O!!! being a person who was affected by obesity from the age of 8 to the age 14 i know this evil very well, and im the first to see how bad america has been affected by this evil. I tend to think back to when i began to lose weight, i was always picked on by my little brother and other classmates but i never went to the corner feeling sorry for myself. I took it upon myself at the age of 14 to eat healthy, exercise and before i knew it, the weight poured off. I wish that i could spread the knowledge and experience to those that had the same problem as me because what would have made everything a lot easier is having someone to see you change and cheer you on. But i can honestly say nothing was more pleasing than having the name calling fade and the respect starts coming from those whom i never had it from.
Without being naive to the fact that there are certain conditions that make it a lot harder for a person to lose weight i don't understand the excuses coming from the other percentage of people in america. Maybe we need a force to come along and monitor american consumption almost like a police force....yeah!!! the OBESE POLICE!!! But of course i am clearly kidding, but obesity is real, and if nothing is done we may be living in the age of artery clogging, heart attacks, and double bypass. That just doesn't appeal to me.

War With Media
I sit down in the library on this chilly October morning, open up my book and begin to read this article created by John W. Jordan. As i read on to what seemed to be an interesting piece my mid becomes stale as the information i am reading just fall off my interest. I don't actually know the direct root to my dislike of this article but my guess is that ive always had a hard time finding the rhetorical view of something just does not appeal to me. What i have understood about this article and the last article i read is how the media really impacts the knowledge of war. We had discussed in class how certain branches of military such the army and navy use advertisements at sporting events to advertise themselves, it was said they did this strategically so they are bound to be noticed. I myself would like to point out that the advertisement for military branch has skyrocketed. One of my main points to back that up is the NHRA (National Hot Rod Assosiation) and the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) Ive followed both of these sports for a long long time and recently i began to notice the advertisements. On the NHRA side there are a number of racers and cars that are directly sponsored by the Army, just take a look at Tony Schumacher. On the side of the UFC they are in two big sponsorship's with the Army and Marines. In Most all UFC events the commentators as well as the ring announcer can be heard saying "Brought to you by the Marines" or army. Its little subtle changes like that, that have really put the military in the eye of the public, and when the public sees these advertisements thats when they begin to pay attention. Which is exactly what the military wants, so they can put interest into more Americans tp help with popularity and growth.

Phone Addiction
Oh the joy to live in the 21st century. We have big beautiful cities, great ways to travel, our medical knowledge is the best its ever been, and people are addicted to technology! Yes people are actually addicted to silly things such as cell phones and video games. Individuals has been using cell phones for years yet back when they were first created they were built for the simple task of calling. Now in the year of 2013 cell phones are used to communicate through text, e-mail, and surf the internet. It seems like the only thing a cell phone cant do is change your underwear but what i want to know is why everyone thinks they need to have their noses glued to this device, i cant go anywhere without seeing someone vigorously texting away on cell phones. After a little bit of time it came to me, CELL PHONE ADDICTION!! it seems a little radical but it makes perfect sense. People with cell phones love seeing text notifications, it gives them a since of importance. They crave getting on social networks at the click of an app, yet what most don't realize is that this is an addiction. Although cellphone addiction inst something many people are concerned with, i believe that it can cause serious strains on perception of the real world and how one can communicate with others physically. Somewhere down the road this could lead people to live a comply cyber communicated world
