Meow

Today I was walking through the Woodworth dorm and saw the image below hanging on a dorm room door.
It immediately made me think of Caleb's lecture pertaining to the portrayal of women and superheroes. Catwoman in movies has always been depicted as a sexy woman who uses her charm to get what she wants and then shows her true identity, which is a kick ass, strong woman. This image I found interesting because it shows her dressed modestly and her face seems to have a somewhat annoyed look some would even say "bitch resting face". Then we have the word meow added to it. Where do I even start with that word...yes it is the sound a cat makes, but now a days it is a term used when girls are being spiteful, or sassy. This illustration shows a persona of the female superheroes that we did not cover in class, but I believe would be an interesting discussion to have. If a female superhero is not giving off the sex appeal is the only other option to have her be rude or spiteful? There are several examples of this from Poison Ivy to Catwoman in The Dark Night Rises. They both have a high amount of sex appeal, but also both have revenge issues that make them give off this shrewd attitude. I have no idea why this was on the residents door she could be a fan, or it could be an inside joke, but no matter what it gives off a message for those to interpret on their own.
