Ellen DeGeneres is one of my favorite talk show hosts, hands down. If you've ever seen her show, you can't say she doesn't entertain and truly care for her guests that watch live in the studio and the guests who come onto the show that are being interviewed. She's genuine and I love that about her.
When Ellen came out that she was a lesbian, there was a lot of controversy about it. I, personally, looked up to her even more for coming out because I can't imagine the kind of strength that took. Deep down, she's a normal human being just like us who has feelings and unlike most of us that are gay who come out, you don't have to come out to the entire world like she did. So I fully support her for making that decision. It couldn't have been easy. Ellen proves every day on her show how selfless she is by donating money to several organizations, giving away a different surprise/gift on the show to her guests and the support she has provided for several families and friends throughout the years.
I don't think it should matter if you're straight, gay or white or black, everyone should be treated equal and be given the same rights and opportunities. Ellen is an icon to many and it shouldn't matter what sex she prefers. Who are we to judge? I actually believe more people have looked up to her and watched her show since she's come out. She's hilarious, genuine, outgoing and selfless. All those qualities and so many more are what makes a great talk show host.
