Sports
So today and Monday we watched a movie about the politics of
sports. It seemed to be a lot more than that as the movie went on. This is the
type of thing I have been waiting for all semester is to talk about something
to do with sports. I thought it was very interesting to see what he talked
about with the woman’s rights and how he talked about what African Americans
went through in sports for many years. I think it was bad how people then
treated woman in sports. They are still fighting for equal in the Wimbledon Championships
in London. This is a tennis tourney just incase someone didn’t know but they
just finally got it were it is pretty equal to what the men make when they win
the championship. When they were talking about the African American part of
sports. All I could think about was the movie 42 that just came out this past
summer. It is a movie about Jackie Robinson the first black man to play in
Major League Baseball. If you see that movie it will just show you how much he
went through in his first year in the MLB and it was just very interesting to
see how he handled it. I think it is crazy how badly people were treated back
in the old days. Just because they had a different skin color they were not
aloud to play pro sports. It has gotten a lot better over the years and it will
grow as years go by.

Nerds and Geeks
The other week while we were in class we were talking about
geeks and nerds. How there are a lot of different types of geeks and nerds in
our world today. I would not say that I am a nerd or even a geek but I would
say I am a type of nerd that we touched on a little in class. That would be a
sports nerd. Some of you might not even consider that to be a type of nerd or
geek. I would say I am a sports nerd because if you were to ask any of my
friends they would say I know too many sports fact. They would also say that I
know a lot of random facts about sports teams or some athletes. I would say I
do know a lot about random things in sports from football to Auto racing and
everything in between. It makes since if you know me though because my dream
one day is to become a sports broadcaster. It is a good thing if you want to be
come a sports broadcaster because you need to know everything about the teams
that you are covering. So I guess I found a good job for me to do for the rest
of my life if I am going to be a sports nerd. Its just like a guy who is a
computer nerd she is going to want to be doing something with computers so it
really is all the same to me.

Reality Shows
I really don’t understand why people are so crazy about
reality TV. Some might say they like
them because they aren’t scripted and you never know what is going to happen
next. People might like them more because when you watch a normal TV show that
has a word to word script is because it is very predictable to see what is
going to happen next. I got to say I do not like watch these type of shows when
I say these type of shows I mean reality shows. Like the Real Housewives of
Orange County. I don’t see a point of watching a TV show about people that are
living their own lives and seeing their own drama. It is funny to me to see how
people love to get so involved in how other people live their lives. Why would
people want to have more drama in your life by watching their drama and making
it apart of their own lives. The Honey boo boo show I think should of never
been on TV I just don’t get how people get so famous just because they get on
TV for no reason. The only show that I can stand a little but still gets on my
nerves a little bit is Duck Dynasty. It is the only show were the drama is very
limited and has a lot more funny things during an episode than nothing but
drama.

Video Games
I think it is really crazy how much video games and TV that
is watched and played a year in the United States. I do know when I play video
games it makes you use your hand eye coordination and a lot of other things. It
also makes you use problem-solving issues. That is in almost every game you are
going to deal with a level or a game that you can’t figure out and you need to.
I think if using video games to help people become possibly happy or something
then maybe we should play more video games. They always tell us not to play
video games and get outside and do stuff active but some times it helps us to
do things that will help other skills that are needed in life. The whole 1,000
year game thing that was discussed in class would be a very interesting thing
for people to play. I know my parents would struggle to pick that up because
they have never really ever played video games before. It could very well be a
good thing though if people really wanted to sit down and do it. You do have to
look at it that children watch enough TV as it is so maybe they don’t need to
keep playing video games or watching TV. SO I would say health would be the
biggest concern we have here when it come to the 1,000 year video game.

I had something come up this weekend that I thought was very
interesting. What the situation had to deal with just goes to show how social
media just effects our lives so much in our modern day world. So my girlfriend
and I were driving back to Muncie from were we are from (Carmel). When we got to
Muncie we remembered that the volleyball state championships were being played
at Worthen Arena. Our former school was playing in the 4A game against Avon. So
my girlfriend got on her phone to see who had won the match or to see who was winning.
She first put it into Google and she couldn’t find anything on it. All she
could find were articles that were from earlier in the week about the state
championship matches. So I told her to get on to Twitter to see if it was
trending and to see what they were saying on there. Sure enough she typed it in
to see if it was trending and it was also she looked up the athletic directors
twitter feed to see if he had any updates. He was there so it made it easier to
just follow what he was saying. Carmel did up loosing the match and the title
but it was just interesting to me to see how is it is to see what is going on
using twitter or Facebook than any other tool now a days.
